Two Bison in Black and White
Painting is a passion of mine. This blog is the story behind the creation ot this particular painting called "Two Bison in Black and White" I made after my trip to the Yellowstone National Park.
This painting, made with acrylic paint, is inspired by a picture I took in the amazing Yellowstone National Park. We had excellent weather throughout the stay. Always an epic deep blue sky with near to zero clouds. But luckily, on this one morning there was fog. That is not something you hear often, do you? Fog is not something you want in a postcard picture. However, we were hiking on this National Park Trail we spotted this two young Bison gazing at us. By chance I had my point-and-shoot-camera handy so I was able to take this picture. And I forgot about it. Back home, while looking through the large amount of pictures of the trip, I rediscovered the photograph. I was so amazed by the colourlessness and the atmosphere of the picture that I decided to try to recreate the feeling with acrylic paint. I learned from this, that sometimes the pictures that are not really what you would consider beautiful are the most interesting. It is a good challenge to try to paint your own pictures so you learn what you did wrong in taking your picture and how you could improve it for the next time.
